'Equalizer' Music Cabinet
Designed and hand built in the Scout & Boo workshop, this lovely cabinet was initially designed as a commission piece to store a clients hi-fi equipment and vinyl (records/LP’s).
We wouldn’t want to limit the possible uses for this versatile little unit, but for the sake of it’s name, we’ll concentrate on it’s conceived use and let you decide what you want to do with it!
The top of this piece is large enough for a turntable measuring 50cm wide x 42cm deep (max size of top), two lower apertures underneath intended to house separates (amp, tuner or CD); top space measuring 47cm wide x 41cm deep and 9cm high between the birch ply, and the lower aperture between the steel spacers measuring 42cm wide x 41cm deep x 9cm high (NB: 42cm is the maximium width between the spacers looking from the front, 41cm is the full cabinet depth available if you slide the separate between the spacers from the front or back. If you slide from the side should your tuner/amp be wider than it is deep then you can fit a separate 32cm deep x 50cm wide x 9cm deep). Sliding doors open to a lower cupboard internally measuring 47cm wide x 37cm high x 42cm deep, with central partition and enough space to store 80+ 12” records - easily enough tunes for a good night in!
The design in yellow graduating upwards to orange on a dark grey background represents the lights of a graphic equalizer, the original design used when this piece was first conceived for a client commission – Roger we tip our hat to you on this one!
This all sits on top of some beech tapered retro dansette style legs which are 25cm high.
If you need the cabinet sizes tweaking to fit your kit then please get in touch and we’ll see what we can do.
The two Birch Ply sections are constructed from the highest grade FSC sustainable Birch ply and finished with water-based satin lacquer (EN71 tested) it is built to last and is kind to us and the environment. Front edges are chamfered to add a beautiful detail to the piece.
The graphics are printed and gloss laminated using EN71 tested vinyl (European child toy safety regulation) to produce a stunning and unique visual finish to this piece.
Total dimensions are 89cm high x 51cm wide x 42cm deep.
Production time is 6-8 weeks from order being placed. Customised pieces may take a little longer.

Looking after your furniture
The vinyl surfaces should be treated like a painted or varnished surface and cleaned with a soft cloth. Stubborn marks can be removed using a damp cloth or furniture polish (or even white spirits if it is really stubborn) and wiped dry. As with paint and varnish, the laminate can scratch so avoid heavy or sharp objects.
